This research takes two modules in statistics to analyze the relation between jump reach and attacking skill performance. We aim at 72 main players of each team in 1999 World Cup, and deal with the data with Basic Correlation Analysis and Pearson Product-moment Correlation Coefficient. We reach the conclusion as following: 1. The players' spike jump reach and attacking skill performance are correlated to each other, but there is no relationship between block jump reach and attacking skill performance. 2. Among the three attacking skills (spiking, blocking and serving) in volleyball games, block jump reach is highly related to the results of spiking, but shows little relation to the performance of blocking. However, there is no significant difference between jump reach and the result of serving. We hope that the conclusion of this research can provide constructive opinions and beneficial innovations in spiking training in the future.
