Many have raised concerns regarding how to design an administrative preparation program that will make a difference in the quality of education. From an administrative point of view, this article first explores the different curriculum contents and beliefs of principal preparation programs. This is followed by an analysis of the developmental trends of administrative preparation programs that focuses primarily on the United States, Great Britain, and Singapore. It is concluded that the contents of the preparation programs should be adapted in order to provide more multifaceted and practical knowledge that reflects the current context of schools by encompassing issues of ethics, values, and the social context of schools.
