The purpose of this quasi-experimental study was to evaluate the effect of a child sexual abuse prevention program on sexual abuse prevention knowledge, attitudes, and self-protective behaviors among elementary school children of the fifth and sixth-grade in eastern Taiwan. A convenient sampling of 127 participants were selected into experimental and control groups according to their class grouping. Only the experimental group received the child sexual abuse prevention program. All participants completed the ”Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Questionnaire” before and after the intervention. The results indicated that the post-test sexual abuse prevention knowledge in the experimental group increased significantly compared to that of the control group and reached statistically significance (p< .05), but the attitudes of the experimental group were not improved significantly. The post-test mean scores of self-protective behaviors of both groups increased, but both groups were not significantly different based on the adjusted group means of ANCOVA. The findings suggested that community health nurses should advocate sexual abuse prevention education in the community in order to reduce children' sexual abuse incidences.
