The study focuses on three factors-- ”knowledge about aging”, ”attitudes toward the elderly” and ”willingness to serve the elderly”. The research adopted the questionnaire survey and the ”Undergraduate Students' Cognition toward Aging and the Elderly Questionnaire” as tool, students from 19 technical universities were selected by two-step purpose and cluster random sampling. Total 2,120 questionnaires were distributed, 2,022 questionnaires retrieved and 1,947 of those are valid (sample validation 91.84%).According to findings of the research, conclusions are as follows:1.Students hold upper intermediate level of knowledge about aging, with positive attitudes toward the elderly, and with upper intermediate level of willingness to serve the elderly.2.Continued education program students have higher level of knowledge about aging than regular students. There is no significant difference on attitudes toward the elderly among continued education program students and regular students. Regular students have more willingness to serve the elderly than continued education program students.3.Students of medical, nursing, and social welfare related majors are more positive on attitudes toward the elderly, and with higher willingness to serve the elderly.4.Female students, attend social clubs, study Gerontology and Psycho-Gerontology helps to promote students' positive attitudes toward the elderly, as well as their willingness to serve the elderly.5.There are significant correlations between knowledge about aging, attitudes toward the elderly and willingness to serve the elderly.6.Background variables, knowledge about aging and attitudes toward the elderly can effectively predict student's willingness to serve the elderly.Suggestions were given to technical universities, educational administration organizations and future research.
