The purpose of this study is to verify the relationship among the family socioeconomic status, tutoring time and the level of sports participation in upper-grade elementary school students. Gender, grade, and participation in sports clubs are used as control variables. The study targeted fifth and sixth-grade students from five public elementary schools in Chiayi County, issuing 400 questionnaires in total. A total of 353 valid questionnaires were collected, yielding an effective recovery rate of 88.3%. The data, analyzed by partial least squares, the results revealed that: 1. Family socioeconomic status positively influences students' tutoring time. 2. Family socioeconomic status does not affect the level of students' sports participation. 3. Tutoring time negatively influences students' level of sports participation. 4. Male students exhibit a higher level of sports participation compared to female students. 5. Different grade levels do not affect students' level of sports participation. 6. Students participating in sports clubs demonstrate a higher level of sports participation compared to those who do not. These findings can serve as references for future efforts to enhance the level of sports participation among upper-grade elementary school students.
