Ilan County, with convenient transportation of the Hsuehshan Tunnel, many opportunities of business have been brought to. The most hot spot, Jiaosi hot springs have been one of the most famous attractions, thus many new construction projects were introduced into this area. During the construction, groundwater pumping wells are most likely required to be set at the initial stage due to the rich underground water, causing a large number of residents in the vicinity of water temperature and water table drops. This study used a number of existed monitoring wells, carefully recorded the data before and after the set of groundwater pumping wells, through spatial analysis, data cross-matching to identify the impact ranges of these groundwater pumping wells, and whether there is a recovery of spa temperature by follow-up recording. Besides, we also did situ investigations of total volume of pumping underground water to understand whether it may affect the sustainability of Jiaosi hot springs.
