The purpose of this cross-sectional study is to investigate the predictors for college students' self-rated health status. The sample was selected conveniently from four universities located in Southern Taiwan. Totally, there were 679 valid responses, including 320 male and 359 female students. The instrument was composed of the following sections: self-esteem, perceived social support, stress, depression and demographic information. The findings indicated that for college students' self-rated health status, self-esteem, perceived social support, stress and depression were all valid predictors, which explained 23% variance respectively. It appears that psychological factors play a significant role regarding self-perceived health status and health promotion among college students.
