Although the qwas lmuhuw songs of the Tayal tribe didn't have various changes, they are derived from the language and have an important function in preserving and transmitting the ethnic culture. Therefore they represent the most important way of Tayal traditional singing. No matter what the melody or lyrical form, there always is a clear thread of thought. Although scholars have researched these songs, they have so far only concentrated on describing the melody and lack the understanding of the logic and aesthetic notions of the singing, especially the issues concerning the lyrics and the grammar in singing. These issues include the meaning of the lyrics, the metaphorical description which amplifies the meaning, the ornaments added to a single word, as well as the cultural meanings derived from the singers' singing behavior (which expresses those meanings). These are the aspects that this paper proposes to study.
