Table tennis is easy to take up. It is competitive, entertaining and effective for body-building. Simple equipments, small playing space and flexible amount of exercise make table tennis an appropriate sport for lifelong exercise. With the ultimate goal of cultivating a lifelong exercising habit, PE instructors should consider how to arouse students' potentials in independence, creativity and interests as well as skills in table tennis. This article begins with basic instruction of college table tennis course, combining course design with assessment of skills and rules. Through theoretical and practical instruction, it helps improve students' body health, enhance their knowledge in table tennis, cultivate the ability to admire table tennis and to plan self-exercise routine. Furthermore, with assessment of table tennis regulations, students are able to learn actively, experience the joy of exercise, and gradually get a lifelong habit of exercise. And thus students are able to learn actively and gradually have a lifelong habit of exercising. In the end, high quality of life is possessed because of good mental and physical health and improved table tennis skills.
