This study is designed to investigate relationships between the motives and drawbacks for college students in Taichung to participate in sports clubs. This study adopted a random sampling strategy, by which students were selected from six administrative regions as the main analysis group. A total of 400 questionnaires were conducted, 96.75% of which are effective because there are 13 invalid questionnaires. The results show that there exist correlations between students' motives and constrains: on aspects of motivation, students find physical self-perception and mental feelings the most satisfying; on aspects of constrains, self-prohibition is what most seriously hinders students. Consequently, this study offers three suggestions: differentiating the skills levels of sports clubs, building sports knowledge database APP as a communication platform, and constantly holding introduction meetings and promotion activities. As a result, it is hoped that the participation and popularity of sports clubs will improve.
