Living Experiences of Mainland Chinese Students in Taiwan: A Qualitative Study

摘要

教育是奠定及展現國家軟實力的重要環節，2010年開放大陸學生來臺就學（陸生政策）亦是以教育途徑發展國家軟實力的重要政策。2015年來臺大陸學生（下稱陸生）人數已居來臺境外生首位。本研究針對陸生人數多年為全國之冠的M大學105學年度在學的大學部35位陸生作焦點團體訪談，探討陸生來臺的一般性生活經驗、交友、社會支持以及來臺經驗對其的影響。主要結果有：多數陸生在臺總體生活經驗及適應皆良好，雖存在臺灣學生（下稱臺生）普遍對大陸缺乏瞭解、思維模式差異及政治氛圍等負面因素，但未造成交友困擾，惟交換生與臺生之融合不如學位生良好；學校師長的細心照顧及臺灣社會中對人的信任是重要的社會支持；在臺經驗已改變了多位受訪者對生活態度、思維模式及對人性的理解，顯示臺灣軟實力透過陸生政策確有發揮，然仍以學位生感受較深。本研究與以往研究最大的不同點為學位生及交換生的次團體差異及學校的行政支援是重要的社會支持來源，故建議各校在輔導陸生時可考量次團體分別，並且同時建立或加強本身專責的行政支援體系。

The policy of accepting Mainland Chinese students to study in Taiwan (Mainland student policy) passed in 2010. In 2015, students from Mainland have out-numbered other external students. This study aims to discuss the general living experiences, friendship, social support, adaptation patterns as well as the impact of this study abroad experience of Mainland students in Taiwan via conducting focus group interviews with 35 volunteered Mainland students in M University. The results show that subjects have an overall positive living experience. Taiwanese students’ lack of understanding of China, different thinking patterns, and negative political atmosphere in society constitute the negative factors but did not cause serious problems in forming friendships between subjects and Taiwanese students. However, degree students enjoy better friendships with local Taiwanese students than exchange students. Furthermore, for some interviewed degree students, their Taiwan experience has changed the life attitude, thinking patterns and the understanding of human nature. Different from previous research, this study shows sub-group differences between degree and exchange students. Moreover, prudent care from the school staff and the trust from people in Taiwanese society are important sources of social support. Hence, it is suggested that school advising systems focus more on the sub-group differences between Mainland students and strengthen the function of its responsible administrative units.
