摘要

朴世堂（1629-1703）字季肯，少號潛叟，晚號西溪樵叟。潘南人。年三十二出仕，年四十致仕，歸居揚州水落山石泉洞，享壽七十五歲。終身著述而不赴召，年五十三註《老子》，次年註《莊子》，並作《大學》、《中庸》、《論語》、《孟子》、《尚書》之《思辨錄》，唯《毛詩思辨錄》未能完成。西溪先生之註《老》，在悲世人多宗晉人，託為玄虛無實之談，眇茫不可涯之說，以為微言妙義，訛而又訛，益可悲也。故疏釋《老子》，以明其意，使無重誤後世也。然拘於時、篤於虛，不免有版本、釋義之訛，如「無名，萬物之始」，所據本「萬物」訛作「天地」；「有無之相生，難易之相成，……」所據本脫六「之」字。至於第十章「玄鑒」之訛作「玄覽」；第二十六章「還館」之訛作「榮觀」，此所據版本之訛。第三十八章註曰：「不德，不自有其德也，不德是以有德。」此誤釋也，「上德不德，是以有德」，是謂尚德不得，是以有德，西溪註誤；第五十六章註曰：「知者不言，心了至理，如鏡照物，無待於言也。」此誤釋也，「言」者「政令」。「知之者不言」，是謂知尚德者不以政令，西溪註誤。今就《老子》第十章、第二十六章、第三十八章、第五十六章，明其版本、析解其義，以為指瑕也。

Piao Shi Tang(朴世堂)(1629-1703), style name Chi Ken(季肯). His pseudonyms were Chien Sou(潛叟) and later Hsi Hsi Chiao Sou(西溪樵叟). He was born in Pan Nan (潘南). He passed the imperial exam and took up an official post at the age of 32, and he retired at the age of 40. All the days of Piao Shi Tang were 75 years. He annotated Lao Tzu at the age of 53. There are some faults in Piao Shi Tang's ”Hsin Chu Tao Te Ching”:1. Base on the error edition of Lao Tzu : Take ”Wu Ming Wan Wu Chih Shih” for instance, he took ”Tien Ti” for ”Wan Wu”. Take ”You Wu Chih Hsiang Sheng, Nan I Chih Hsiang Cheng...” for instance, he left out the word ”Chih” six times. In the chapter 10, he took ”Hsuan Lan” for ”Hsüan Chien”. In the chapter 26, he took ”Jung Kuan” for ”Huan Kuan”.2. The wrong interpretation of the Lao Tzu: In the chapter 38, he wrote: ”Pu Te, Pu Tzu You Chi Te Yeh, Pu Te Shih I You Te”. It is wrong. ”Shang Te Pu Te, Shih I You Te” means ”Shang(尚：respect) Te Pu Te, Shih I You Te”. In the chapter 56, he wrote” ”Chih Che Pu Yen, Hsin Liao Chih Li, Ju Ching Chao Wu, Wu Tai Yü Yen Yeh”. It's wrong. ”Yen” means decree. ”Chih Chih Che Pu Yen” means he who knows about respecting for ”Te” does not govern by decree.
