This article is intended to introduce the studies on Central Asia, Tibet and Silk Road in North America (primarily the United States), as well as the relevant resources. The author first clarifies some geographical terms, defining the scope of research areas of the Central Asia, Tibet and the Silk Road. Looking at the development of the studies on Central Asia, Tibet in North America, primarily, the United States, the author analyzes the historical reasons that have impacted the growth of the Central Asian studies in United States. It was until the post-WWII, during the cold war period, the Central Asian and Tibetan studies in America began to develop rapidly. The scholarship of the area has used a large number of ancient Chinese records about Central Asia as the primary resources, therefore, it has close relationship with Sinology. America's strength and level of Tibetan Studies is far beyond that of the Central Asian studies and became one of the important sub-fields in the "area studies". In the end, the author provides an overview of the resources and collections on the Central Asian and Tibetan studies.
