敬悼　嚴歸田師

Being renowned as an outstanding scholar in the academic community, Prof. YEN made eminent contributions by his devoted and incessant efforts in research. He began with a study on the bureaucracy of the governments of Qin and Han and further ventured his exploration into the local governmental organisations of Wei and Tang. His concise interpretations of Ban's annuals and Du's poems were celebrated by all. Our hearts were bleeding in despair as he looked over his shoulder on his way to the hospital. We could not help bending our heads in sorrow and lamenting over the departure of a great soul as we watched the stream flow by.
