論人間佛教的生命教育-天台教觀的詮釋進路

摘要


立基於「人間佛教的生命教育」之主軸思想,本文企圖藉由筆者這些年已有的研究成果,主要是從天台思想與相關佛教經典的詮釋進路,簡要綜論天台宗之教義與觀行所蘊含之生命教育義涵,以及由之所開展的人間佛教實踐。本文主要之目的在於論述天台教觀所含具之特殊義涵及其獨特的實踐觀行,在因應當前社會所可能面臨的諸多問題,有其可參照與依循之處;同時亦希冀論述過程中能呼應星雲大師所堅信的理念:人間佛教的生命教育與傳統佛教義理與修行實踐存在著緊密的承續關係。

Following the perspective of Life Education in Humanistic Buddhism, the author reviews recent writings using the interpretative approach found in Tiantai Buddhist texts to summarize the significance of life education as found in Tiantai teachings and meditation methods, and their later developments in the practice of humanistic Buddhism. The main purpose of this paper is to discuss the unique ideas and practices in the Tiantai tradition, and demonstrate how they were responses to problems in society at the time. We hope the discussion can echo Master Hsing Yun's convictions that life education in Humanistic Buddhism has solid relationship with the theories and practices of traditional Buddhism.
