This study is to investigate the learning effect of applying augmented reality in reading activities of hieroglyphics picture books. The subjects are 49 third graders from two classes in Taipei City. One of the classes is an experimental group, using the tablet for picture book reading activities with the augmented reality. Another class is a control group, accept traditional reading activities. The hieroglyphics picture book is used for two groups in reading activities. After reading activities, both groups accepted reading achievement test and filled out reading motivation awareness questionnaire. The results of this study show that applying augmented reality in hieroglyphic picture book reaching doesn't have a significant impact on improving students' reading motivation, but it helps students to promote the reading achievement effectively.
