As a world famous book, The Old Man and the Sea won the Nobel Prize for Literature. Its author is Hemingway, an American writer. The story starts from an old fisherman fishing at sea and fighting with a giant fish in the sea far away from the coast. The book is a novelette, which is widely liked by people all over the world. Due to cultural differences and translators' different understandings, there are many Chinese versions of The Old Man and the Sea. Based on the theory of domestication and foreignization, this paper analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of Dong Gang's translation version by criticizing and appreciating it, and provides enlightenment for the better dissemination of Chinese versions in China.
