摘要

近代以來，中國佛教界為了適應社會變革，提出了人間佛教的主張，從傳統佛教思想資源中開出了頗具現代性的佛教思想與實踐，並以此為基礎，開展了各種各樣社會參與活動。在臺灣，從理論層面和實踐層面將人間佛教事業開展的生生有色的毫無疑問是星雲大師。星雲大師和佛光山一直推動「佛說的、人要的、善美的、淨化的」人間佛教，以制度化、生活化、現代化、大眾化、藝文化、事業化、國際化、人間化的方式，推動佛教事業的發展。人間佛教的這種社會參與活動，彰顯了佛教的存在感及其對人生和社會的價值。本文擬通過考察佛光山人間佛教對政治和經濟活動的參與，來觀照人間佛教在社會各層面所發揮的作用，特別是在相對遠離宗教核心層的社會事務層面所產生的影響和作用，反思當代人間佛教如何既能深入世間，又能出離塵世，作社會大眾的精神導師和信仰引領者。

Since modern times, Chinese Buddhists, in order to adapt to the social changes, propose the idea of Humanistic Buddhism, extract some fairly modern Buddhism thoughts and practices from the traditional Buddhism, and then on that basis carry out various social activities. In Taiwan, judging from both theoretical level and practical level, Master Hsing Yun is certainly the most successful one on promoting the cause of Humanistic Buddhism. He and his Fo Guang Shan are constantly promoting the ＂Buddha-said, well-accepted, virtuous and purified＂ Humanistic Buddhism and propelling the development of Buddhism in ways of institutionalizing, modernizing, popularizing, commercializing, internationalizing, and aestheticizing. This kind of social participation improves it s presence and highlights its value to human life and society. Through the studies of the political and social participation of Humanistic Buddhism in Fo Guang Shan, this article is to look deep into the effects of Humanistic Buddhism on all levels of society, especially on the social affairs relatively far away from the religious core, and to reflect on how the contemporary Buddhism is able to go deeply in the mortal world while standing aloof from the earthly affairs, being a spiritual mentor and leader.
