This study uses the "Panel Study of Family Dynamics (PSFD)" to empirically investigate the factors influencing the decision of adult children financially supporting parents and parents-in-law. The probability of daughter financially supporting parents is higher than son. It means that fostering parents is no longer just son’s responsibility and obligation. However, son still support more amount of money than daughter. Females are more willingness of support parents–in-law than men. The more resources the children have, the more likely they support their parents or parents-in-law. When the relationship between children and their parents is closer, it will increase the children's emotional awareness and empathy to their parents and increase the sense of responsibility for fostering behavior. It will increase willingness to support their parents. Receiving help from parents(parents-in-law) at the time of first marriage doesn’t significantly increase children’s fostering behavior.
