批判性設計:「以情境察覺的創意設計反思消費文化」個案研究

摘要


我們日常生活中有許多事情是大家習以為常或視為理所當然的,但當中卻可能隱藏著某些議題值得我們去察覺與反思。近年來批判性設計在設計界中引起相當大的關注,一群設計師藉由批判性設計的途徑,提出既不強調功能性也不以實用為目的的作品,而是利用設計作品提出問題,激發觀看作品的人們思考與辯論。但批判性設計興起至今,始終沒有提出明確的設計方法與判別方式,這兩方面的缺乏使得對於批判性設計的了解更加困難重重。 本研究藉由對批判性設計的文獻蒐集與分析,提出其源起、義意、代表人物與作品,並批判性設計的五項重要特徵。以文獻探討所得與參與Workshop所得之經驗,應用於案例演練中。案例演練利用參與國科會前瞻工程「察覺、反思」研究計畫機會之「以情境察覺的創意設計反思消費文化」子計畫為例,設計出五項批判性設計作品(友.沒友、符袋、LOGO沖沖沖、楚門的廣場、不願面對的重量),並於最後邀請四位專家,以批判性設計角度提出評論與建議。 研究最後由文獻、參與Workshop、案例演練與專家評論等過程,整理出批判性設計之判別準則、設計原則。除此之外,更探討其核心價值,提出批判性設計對工業設計的啟示,包含了設計與藝術之間差距縮小,以及工業設計與市場關係的改變。最終期盼提供完整的批判性設計概貌、創作參考與建議。

For a very long time, lots of things in our lives were taken for granted. However, there may be some underlying issues that we should rethink or bring awareness to. In recent years, Critical Design attracted great attention in the field of design, some designers started using Critical Design as a way to stimulate discussions or even debates between the designers and the society. The product designed does not focus on the functionality and usability as they normally do, which are meant to solve problems, on the contrast they use the design to pose questions. Over several years of development in Critical Design, there still lack information in design method and identifying rules, which makes Critical Design even harder to understand. This research gathered the limited information in Critical Design and categorized it into five main aspects (Issue, Critical, Awareness, Scenario, Entity Product, and Darkness). By participating in the Ideastorming Project, the researcher took the team “Reflections on Consumer Culture by Context Awareness Design” as a case study and applied the five characters. After completing the project, four experts were invited to give comments from the perspective of Critical Design. By gathering information from references and comments from experts, attending workshops, and doing case studies, the researcher acquired design method and identifying rules in Critical Design. In addition, this research also had a chance to explore the core value of Critical Design and its influence in the field of industrial design, including the difference between a design and an artwork, and the changes of the current designing market. The researcher of this study attempts to provide a complete information in the introduction of Critical Design, designing references and related suggestions.
