《遣返》電影劇本創作論述

劇本《遣返》寫的是一個警察在查緝賣淫的過程中認識了一個妓女，在他和妓女交往之後，他沒辦法逮捕她了。會動念寫這個故事，是受到了新聞事件的啟發，想為非法入境的性工作者寫故事。國內沒有法律保障性工作者，又是世界賣淫人口的主要輸入地之一，境內有為數十萬的人口受犯罪集團控制在從事性工作。她們身處地下經濟的最底層，同時受性產業業者和體制的剝削。劇本寫作的同時，筆者一邊閱讀以賣淫為題材的著作。其中有的作品作者本身就曾是或仍是性工作者，讓筆者多了一個了解人物的管道。最後寫出的劇本是一個以人物為主的作品，它的形式簡約，但有內容上的意涵。劇作中呈現的元素在統一性上還可以再寫得更好。整個寫作過程在結構和人物上的思維，都是筆者在指導教授易智言老師的課堂上所學。結構是從角色欲望來貫串三幕劇的架構；人物的設計也是要在欲望的統一上求發展。至於戲劇的書寫，則是事無大小都要去挖掘衝突的寫法。從一稿的寫作到最後論文裏的四稿，中間劇本在故事、角色甚至主題上都發生了很大的變化。簡單的說，就是一個不斷精簡故事雛型的過程。因為有一個簡單清晰的故事雛型，才有更大的機會把事情、人物寫的更深入。完成整個寫作計劃後，筆者最大的收獲是清楚的了解到人物在故事中的重要。一個故事能探索角色底層的脆弱，外在的故事發展就會和人物的內心歷程合而為一。

The script “the Repatriate” depicts the story that a policeman met a prostitute in a surveillance operation detecting the sex syndicate she belonged to. As their relationship went further, he chose not to arrest her. The pulse writing a story for illegal immigrant sex workers is inspired by news stories. Being one of the major importers of sex labor, Taiwan has no regulation protecting the legal rights of sex workers, but has one hundred thousand populations practicing that very profession controlled by sex syndicates. Positioned in the lowest deck of underground economy, those sex workers are exploited by both the sex industry and the system. While writing the script, I read some books written by former or present sex workers. Those references provide an approach to the personality and characteristics of the practitioners. The script turns out to be a character-oriented and minimalist story, but the unity of elements presented within could be better. The thinking behind the structure and characterization in the script is what I learned in professor Chih-Yen Yee’s class. The structure is a classic three-act structure stringed by a clearly delineated character’s desire. The characterization develops upon the unity of each scene’s character’s objective. As to the scene writing, find matters, no matter how small they are, a way of conflict is essential. From the first draft script to the forth one, the story, roles and even the theme defer dramatically. It’s actually a process the story premise being simplified constantly, for the more simple it gets, the greater opportunity one would have to explore matters or people in their full depth. The biggest lesson I get from completing the writing project is how a character matters. The outer life of the story will connect to the character’s inner life only if the submerged weakness of character is tested.
