彰化縣花壇鄉橋頭地區磚瓦窯業發展歷程之研究

摘要

本文探討橋頭地區兩個磚瓦窯業系統之發展歷程：
一、日治初期開始，台灣人經營（台資）之磚瓦窯業
二、昭和9（1934）年日本人設立（日資）之「臺灣煉瓦株式會社花壇工場」

研究內容以橋頭地區發展歷程較長之「台資」磚瓦窯業為主軸，「日資」磚窯業「臺灣煉瓦株式會社花壇工場」發展歷程為輔，透過各時期文獻、口述歷史、手繪、舊照片等資料建構橋頭地區磚瓦窯業自日治時期、戰後至2011年，各時期窯體之源起、分佈狀況、窯體構造、燒製過程、築窯技術與磚瓦（紅瓦與黑瓦）製作方式，以橋頭地區具體之窯體演變過程，建立台灣磚瓦窯業窯體使用之脈絡。同時試圖建立日資臺灣煉瓦株式會社花壇工場在橋頭地區的設備規模，以及對當地台資磚瓦窯業之影響。

本研究分為五章，內容摘要如下：

This thesis investigates the development process of two brick and roof tile industries in Ciaotou area:
1.The brick and roof tile industry run by Taiwanese from early Japanese ruled period.
2.The Huatan Manufactory, Taiwan Tile Corporation established by Japanese in Showa 9 (1934).

This study focuses on brick and roof tile industry of a long course of development run by Taiwanese in Ciaotou area. And supplemented by the development of Huatan Manufactory, Taiwan Brick Corporation established by Japanese. Through documents, oral history, hand-painted, and old photos, try to construct the originations of kilns, their distribution and locations, construction models, processes of burning, technologies of building and methods of brick-tile-making (ie.,Taiwan traditional roof tile and Japanese black tile) of the brick and roof tile industry in Ciaotou area from Japanese ruled period, Post-War period to 2011.Based on the evolution of kilns in Ciaotou, we may be able to further understand what kilns were used in Taiwan brick and roof tile industry. Also try to reconstruct the scale of development for Huatan Manufactory, Taiwan Tile Corporation established by Japanese and the impact to the brick and roof tile industry in Ciaotou area.

The remaining parts of this thesis are organized as follows：
Introduction and some related works on kiln evolution of brick and roof tile industry in Ciaotou Area are given in Chapter 1.

Development environment and conditions for brick and roof tile industry in Ciaotou Area, Huatan Town are described in Chapter 2.

The development of kiln industry in Ciaotou area during the period of Japanese occupation (1895~1945):roof-tile-making and Huatan Manufactory, Taiwan Tile Corporation are stated in Chapter 3.

The development of kiln industry in Ciaotou area after the War (1945~2011): Industrial and Mines Enterprise Huatan Company, Chamber kiln, Round kiln, Hoffmann kiln and Tunnel kiln are presented in Chapter 4.

Conclusions and suggestions are given in Section 5.
