In this dissertation, the author attempts to interpret the character “Melchior” in my graduation production, Spring Awakening, in various ways. Also, this is not only a record but also a critique on the processes of rehearsal and performance of this production. The essay can be divided into three parts. Chapter one focuses on how I find connections between the story of Spring Awakening and my own life experience and how I work on my character based on these connections. In chapter two, the author aims to analyze the character Melchior from the structure of rock musical to see if there are any other possible ways to develop the character rather than simply start from his inner world. Chapter three is a conversation between my created Melchior and me. Through this conversation, I review and criticize with Melchior for the process of rehearsal and the progress brainstorming in this production.
