張邦彥除了身為作曲家及音樂教育家外,在音樂作家這個角色上也不容忽 視,許多音樂期刊中都可發現他的論述及譯作。他關懷社會對於音樂知識的需 求,為了國人能跟上世界音樂的腳步,將某些知名音樂雜誌中的文章,翻譯成中 文,同時自己也寫文章來推廣音樂,雖然現年已73 歲,但對於創作的熱情依然 不減,張邦彥的作品中也充滿了個人風格及濃厚的民族色彩。更值得一提的是他 對於傳統音樂的貢獻;在張邦彥之前,台灣學西樂的作曲家,幾乎少有人為傳統 樂器合奏作曲,然而張邦彥不僅投入這個領域,而且在創作數量上也不少,可說 為了傳統樂器貢獻了不少心力。
In addition to being a composer and music educator, Chang Pang-Yan's role as a music writer can not be ignored. There are lots of his essays and translation works published in many music journals. Chang cares very much about people's thirst for the knowledge on music. In the hope that Taiwanese people can catch up with the rest of the world in terms of musical level, he translated articles in famous musical journals into Chinese. On top of that, he also writes essays to popularize music. Although 73 old now, Chang's passion for composition remains unchanged. Chang Pang-Yan's works are full of his personal style and the spirit of a nation.What's worth mentioning is his contribution to the traditional music. Before him, few Taiwanese composers wrote music for traditional musical instruments. Chang not only dedicated in this field but also created a great number of works. He has indeed contributed a lot to the modern application of traditional musical instruments.
