The radio frequency identification (RFID) technology is currently being spotlighted by business practitioners and researchers. For Taiwan, the government has actively boosted the applications of the RFID technology in various industries, such as the healthcare industry. However, little research consideration is being made on understanding the acceptance of the RFID, including the active RFID and the passive RFID, technology in healthcare industries. Based on the technology acceptance model 2 (TAM 2), the purpose of this study is to explore the impacts of organization support, system quality, service quality, compatibility and government on employees’ usage of the RFID (active RFID & passive RFID) technology in hospitals. A total of 156 questionnaires were sampled from two medical centers and ten regional hospitals, a total of 138 responses were deemed usable for the analyses, a 88.46% usable response rate. This study’s results are summarized as follows: the whole RFID, the active RFID, and the passive RFID technology. In the whole RFID technology, Firstly, subjective norm, job relevance, result demonstrability, system quality, and perceived ease of use have significantly positive effects on perceived usefulness; further, subjective norm, job relevance, result demonstrability, organization support, and system quality have significantly positive effects on perceived ease of use. Secondly, compatibility, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use have significantly positive effects on usage intention. Finally, usage intention has statistically significant and positive effects on actual usage. In the active RFID technology, Firstly, subjective norm, and system quality have significantly positive effects on perceived usefulness; further, subjective norm, and system quality have significantly positive effects on perceived ease of use. Secondly, compatibility, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use have significantly positive effects on usage intention. Finally, usage intention has statistically significant and positive effects on actual usage. In the passive RFID technology, Firstly, job relevance have significantly positive effects on perceived usefulness; further, subjective norm, organization support, and system quality have significantly positive effects on perceived ease of use. Secondly, compatibility, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use have significantly positive effects on usage intention. Finally, usage intention has statistically significant and positive effects on actual usage.
