This study aims to explore the relationship between recreation specialization, flow experiences, and self-efficacy of amateur players in college basketball leagues, as well as examining the fit of the structural equation modeling (SEM) used in the research. It involves the 2016 College Basketball League players by questionnaire and adopts the purposive sampling to select the subjects. In total, 433 copies of the questionnaire were handed out, 381 of them were valid (88%). The obtained data from the survey are analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Independent Samples T-Test, the one-way analysis of variance (abbreviated the one-way ANOVA), and SEM. The analyses provide the following findings. (1) During a basketball contest, players who think that the sport is important and meaningful are often lost in the contest and forget the time. (2) Senior players (often upperclassmen) receive more training and gain more experience than new players. Thus, senior players have a higher level of sports specialization than new players. (3) The level of sports specialization has a positive impact on flow experiences, the specialization of players does not have a significant impact on self-efficacy, and the flow experiences of the players has a positive impact on self-efficacy. (4) The flow experience of basketball players has a full mediation effect on sports specialization and self-efficacy. The effect means that a high degree of sports specialization is more likely to have flow experiences and furthermore, influences self-efficacy. Lastly, this study offers suggestions based on the findings. Keywords: Basketball matches; Recreation specialization; Flow experiences; Structural equation modeling (SEM)
