CAID討論區中之視窗模式對於文章管理與圖片標註介面操作績效與偏好的影響

The Effects of Windows on the Performance and Preference of User Interfaces for Document Management and Picture Annotation in CAID Forums

摘要

本研究以使用及學習Computer-Aided Industrial Design (CAID)繪圖軟體使用者其需求為出發點，增加知識管理與圖面註解於討論區中。研究方法包括：現況調查、實驗用CAID討論區模組的建立與比較。現況調查中，挑選出較具代表性之現有CAID討論區，分析其功能及介面，再經由問卷法及訪談法調查使用者需求。整合調查結果得知，使用者需要文章收藏的管理及文章發表的圖片標註，並將現有討論區網頁呈現之方式：單一視窗與兩個視窗，應用於實驗用討論區的文章管理介面與圖片標註介面中。單一視窗模式為文章管理或圖片標註時，以一個視窗進行；兩個視窗模式為文章管理或圖片標註時，出現第二個視窗進行。CAID討論區模組的比較實驗皆為獨立實驗，且實驗分為文章管理及文章發表。客觀效標包括受測者任務完成時間、任務達成率、問題答對率的客觀效標，以及任務後的主觀評量、偏好比較。
文章管理的三項任務中，兩個視窗模式在建立收藏夾及收藏文章、檢視收藏夾及收藏文章的時間績效較快，但收藏夾中搜索文章的績效，單一視窗模式則為較快之模式，受測者也比較偏好單一視窗模式。在文章發表的兩個任務中，兩個視窗模式在發表新主題的時間績效較快，而受測者的偏好仍為單一視窗。綜合探討，討論區為使用者知識交流的工具，收藏夾中搜索文章的時間績效，比建立收藏夾、檢視收藏夾及收藏文章的時間績效重要，因此單一視窗在文章管理中為較佳之模式。文章發表中，發表新主題在兩個視窗的時間績效較快，回覆主題的時間績效卻無差異，但使用者不會在短時間內同時發表許多主題。而使用者的偏好較發表時間績效重要，單一視窗模式在使用者偏好比較中為較喜歡的模式，單一視窗在圖片標註中為較佳之模式。
最後，本研究提供CAID討論區的網頁設計師兩項建議：1.CAID討論區的使用者，有文章管理與圖片標註的需求；2.文章管理與圖片標註的介面，雖然不同視窗模式對於使用者的操作績效與主觀評量有明顯影響，但收藏夾中搜索文章的時間績效以及使用者對於文章發表介面的偏好，對討論區的知識交流有較大影響，在未來的CAID討論區中，將文章管理與圖片標註整合於單一視窗中。

This research focuses on studying the need of users who use Web-based discussion forums to assist them in learning software products for Computer-Aided Industrial Design (CAID). The researcher added the functions of document management and picture annotation to Web-based CAID forums. The method of this research includes surveys on current situation, building CAID forums for experiments and comparing the interfaces of them. The researcher first selected representative forums for investigation and conducted surveys on users’ needs through questionnaires and interviews. According to the results of surveys, the researcher added the functions of document management and picture annotation using two operation modes, i.e., “a single window” and “two windows,” for CAID forums. Experiments in this study, including tasks for document management and picture annotation, were independent to each other. The objective evaluations in experiments included completion time, the completion rate of storing topics and the completion rate of searching specific topics. The subjective evaluations in experiments included preference, convenience, satisfaction and fitness of users' needs.
There were three tasks for document management. In the tasks of “Add folders and store topics” and “Check folders and store topics,” completion time of two windows was less than that of a single window. However, in “Search answers and topic ID number,” completion time of a single window was less than that of two windows. When there are many topics in the forum, users always need search task. Therefore, completion time of “Search” is important than “Add,” “Check,” and “Store.” Besides, participants prefer to use a single window to manage their document. Therefore, a single window is better than two windows in document management mode.
There were two tasks for picture annotation. In “Post new topics” task, completion time of two windows was less than that of a single window. In the task of “Reply topics,” there was no significant effect on completion time. In addition, participants prefer using a single window to manage their document. Since users have little chance, perhaps even no, to post many topics within a time limit, the completion time is not as important as their preferences. Therefore, single-window mode is still good enough for picture annotation.
According to these discussions, this research suggests the CAID forum designers must integrate user interfaces of document management and picture annotation in a single window.
