智慧型手機觸控筆置放位置及設計之使用性探討

摘要


幾乎智慧型手機都配有觸控筆,常見的置放位置分布於手機的右上、左上、右下或左下方;但不論置放位置為何,觸控筆之尺寸造型設計是一樣的;因此,探討智慧型手機觸控筆的設計原則為何?以及觸控筆在不同的置放位置對使用性會有什麼影響?是本研究探討的主旨。 本研究分三階段進行實驗設計:1) 先期實驗:收集市面觸控筆置放於四個角落的四款手機進行觸控筆操作取出與置回,找出置放位置對使用性的影響;2) 模型實驗:排除先期實驗的變數影響,並增加受測者的人體計測數據收集與分析,找出觸控筆設計原則;3) 改良模型實驗,應用前階段觸控筆設計原則設計出新模型,以進行驗證,並增加受測者主觀評量資料收集與分析。 先期實驗與模型實驗結果皆顯示觸控筆位於手機的上端 (右上,左上) 是較佳的操作位置;因為在上端位置多數受測者顯示出手掌與手腕不容易同時運動,所以左手部動作較順暢,操作時間也較短;而在手機下端兩個位置 (右下,左下) 多數受測者顯示手掌與手腕容易同時運動,所以手部動作較不順暢,因而操作時間也較長;分析人體計測數據資料後,發現受測者手指尺寸大小與操作時間有顯著關係,手指越小,操作時間越短,此結果結合文獻探討引導出觸控筆設計原則:1) 觸控筆之筆頭面積越大,更容易握持觸控筆;2) 手機與觸控筆之間凹槽越大,讓指甲更容易勾取出觸控筆;3) 觸控筆之筆頭採用特殊處理,增加摩擦力。依據觸控筆設計原則再製作新的觸控筆與手機模型實驗,結果顯示縮短觸控筆操作的時間,改善了觸控筆操作的使用性;本研究之結果可提供往後智慧型手機觸控筆設計之參考。

Almost all smart phones are equipped with stylus which are located at upper right, upper left, lower right or lower left of the smart phones; however, no matter where they are located, the size, style and design of the stylus are the same; therefore, the main purpose of the research is to discuss the design principle of the stylus for smart phones and the effects of different stylus locations on usability. This study was conducted in three sequential stages: 1) preliminary experiment: Four smart phones of which the styluses are located at four corners from the market were adopted to perform tasks of taking out and putting in the stylus in order to determine the effect of the location on the usability; 2) mockup experiment: A mockup without the variable influence of the preliminary experiment was used to examine the location of stylus on the usability. The anthropometry data of participants were also collected and analyzed out the design principle of stylus; 3) improved mockup experiment: A new mockup of smart phone was made based on the stylus design principle and was employed. Both the results of preliminary experiment and mockup experiment show that the styluses located at the top (upper right, upper left) need shorter time to perform the tasks than those located at the bottom. If the stylus installed at the top location, participants felt that it is more difficult to move the palm and wrist simultaneously, thus the left hand moves smoothly and the operation time is shorter. If the stylus was at the bottom locations (lower right, lower left), participants felt that it is easier to move the palm and wrist simultaneously, so the hand motions are not smooth and the operation time is longer. After analyzing the anthropometry data, it was found that the finger sizes of the participants are closely related with the operation time, that is, the shorter the finger is, the shorter the time is. Following the results mentioned above and combining with relevant literatures, the design principles of stylus were figured out: 1) the bigger the head area of stylus is, the easier to hold the stylus is; 2) the bigger the groove between the phone and the stylus is, the easier to take out the stylus by the nail is; 3) the head of the stylus might be specially treated to increase the friction. New stylus and phone mockup tests were conducted according to the stylus design principles. The results show that the new designed stylus improves the operation usability. The findings of this research can be provided as a reference for the smart phone stylus design in the future.
