With the fast development of technology, many things in our lives have been digitized. Reading habits of people have thus been shifting from paper books to e-books. As the digitization of picture books, the elements of animation, sound and interactivity have been added to the type of books. However, the majority of interactive e-picture books relies mostly on the keyboard, mouse and touchscreen to interact with users. Such kind of interaction could hardly bring its users any novel experience. In light of this, I have utilized the invention kit Makey Makey to develop an intuitive system of tangible interactive e-picture book called Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star. Readers can learn the basics of musical scales while reading the e-book, and the tangible interaction also enhance readers’ learning interest. I recorded the interaction of readers with the e-picture book as they read and played music in accordance with the plot and the music score. And then I analyzed readers’ understanding of the content to assess the performance of the system of e-picture book, as well as using the System Usability Scale (SUS) to evaluate the usability of the system. Subjects are elementary school students of junior grades. The total number of survey participants is 30, with 16 participants being second grade students and 14 being third grade students. The result showed that out of the 49 questions, participants got more than 39 questions correct on the average. Along with this correct rate higher than 80%, 13 students complete the questionnaire with all the correct answers. As of each question, the correct rate of later questions is higher than that of the early questions. This statistics revealed that the participants were gradually grasping the right method of operating the system during the process. In addition, more than 80 percent of the participants have given positive feedback on the usability of the system, which suggests that the interactive e-picture book Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star is suitable for the participants.
