在無線通訊及行動計算技術不斷進步及快速普及的今天,配合無線通訊的應用己經開始是非常值得研究與發展的。本計畫主要結合無線通訊與生理訊號感測器來進行研究與發展,當攜帶生理訊號感測器之人出現緊急之事情發生時,配合本系統的定位系統,可以立即的清楚知道攜帶感測器之人的位置,以減少尋找的時間,來增加急救的時效性,為本系統主要的精神。本計畫主要的目的是要發展一套適合攜帶式的無線定位感測器,而針對目前無線定位系統之探討發現全球衛星定位系統GPS及GSM式的定位系統並不適合本計畫的目的。必需自行研發另一套無線定位系統。發現Wi-Fi非常適合本計畫之研究,主要原因是:成本低、產品成熟、設備穩定性佳、功率低、省電…等。而Wi-Fi的因功率較低訊號距離較短,也導致定位的誤差較少。而以Wi-Fi來發展定位也是為了在之後的WiMAX逐漸成熟時,可以依循此一發展模式,期望發展出更完整的定位行動追蹤系統。
It is important to understand and predict how people move around and act in the community or at home in order to design any social and economic facilities and systems in various fields for efficient medical care purposes. Because the unsuitability of GPS and GSM positioning system, we plan to approach this subject from the integration of embedded biomedical sensors with wireless communication technology as well as Wi-Fi positioning system, due to its of lower costs, production maturity, and power-saving characteristics, etc,. Another important point to select Wi-Fi positioning system instead of GSM and GPS positioning systems is due to the fact that Wi-Fi system is range–limited, thus has less error than that of GSM and GSP We can develop the same positioning system design but based upon WiMAX technology for more functions in the future following the success of Wi-Fi positioning system design.
