Granulocytic sarcoma is an extramedullary tumor composed of granulocytic precursor cells. It usually occurs in association with leckemia or other myelopro-liferative disorders. We present a 62-year-old woman who suffered from bilateral submandibular and parotid tumors. An incision biopsy revealed granulocytic sarcoma of the parotid gland. Acute myelocytic leukemia was also diagnosed simultaneously. Therefore, this patient received prophylactic antibiotics, granulocyte colony-stimulating factor injection and chemotherapy. Unfortunately, this patient died one month later due to septic shock. The manifestation of leukemia presenting as head and neck tumors is a rare event. We suggest that the possibility of leukemia should be considered, particularly in head and neck tumors presenting with abnorrnal hematologic findings.
