When Chen Yao Tsung was a student, his hometown of Zhuantang Township, Xiping County, Henan Province, China, was caught in the chaos of the Sino-Japanese War and the Chinese Civil War, leading him to live his student years in exile from his hometown. In 1990, He finally returned home to Henan, and found that his parents, being the landlords or the so-called the 'black class', had already died, after suffering from tragic struggles against them and had their land properties confiscated.
