When Chen Yao Tsung was a student, his hometown of Zhuantang Township, Xiping County, Henan Province, China, was caught in the chaos of the Sino-Japanese War and the Chinese Civil War, leading him to live his student years in exile from his hometown. Later, when Henan fell, he resolved to leave and went to Jiangxi to seek shelter in Hu Lien's Twelfth Corp and entered its Raging Tide Academy for Military and Politics, followed the army southward from southern Jiangxi and eastern Guangdong. By October 1, 1949, he was sitting in the Haichen Steamship bound for Taiwan. On the same day, the People's Republic of China was founded, and the two sides of the Taiwan Strait have been divided since then. On October 6, the first Mid-Autumn Festival he ever spent in Taiwan, he wept out of homesickness. Chen Yao Tsung followed the Raging Tide Academy to complete his studies in Xinpu Town, Hsinchu County and Jincheng Town, Kinmen County. He guarded the Dadan Island after the 823 Artillery War and dedicated his youth to defending the country. He retired as a military instructor at an university. In 1990, He finally returned home to Henan, and found that his parents, being the landlords or the so-called the 'black class', had already died, after suffering from tragic struggles against them and had their land properties confiscated. Feeling nothing was the same anymore, the heartbroken Chen Yao Tsung never went home again. war, and laid the foundation for stability of Taiwan. Their stories deserve to be known, remembered and appreciated by their descendants and all Taiwanese.
