Schwannoma is a benign tumor that occurs le in head and neck region, and even rare in the oral cavity. Schwannoma is a solitary, slow growing, and generally asymptomatic benign tumor that can be found at any age. However, it is more common between the 30 and 50 years of life. There is no specific gender predilection. The major treatment for schwannoma is surgical removal The prognosis for Schwannoma is fairly good for recurrent and malignant transformed rates are very low. In addition to histopathologic features, immunohistological stains such as positive for S-100 protein can provide strong evidence for diagnosis.
