Purpose: This study aimed to examine the importance of passing the physical fitness test as a determining factor for commissioning ROTC students, who differ from students in military academies by attending regular universities on weekdays and engaging in military training only on weekends and during breaks. Due to the lack of uniform training and management like their counterparts in military academies, ROTC students often struggle to meet physical fitness standards. Therefore, scientific training becomes crucial for ROTC students. Method: This research utilizes the "ROTC Student Physical Fitness Questionnaire" to conduct a survey and analyze the samples of ROTC students. Independent samples t-tests and chi-square tests are employed to identify the relevant factors influencing the physical fitness test results, followed by multivariate logistic regression analysis. Results: 66% of ROTC students passed the physical fitness test. The chi-square test revealed that gender, grade level, weekly exercise frequency, field of study, and self-confidence are significant factors associated with passing the test. Furthermore, after controlling for other variables, the logistic regression analysis indicated that the probability of passing the test for senior students (second to fourth year) is 7.376 times higher than for first-year students. Thus, higher grade levels are associated with a greater likelihood of passing the test. Conclusion: This study suggests that increasing weekly exercise frequency, enhancing physical training intensity and frequency, and subsequently boosting self-confidence would positively impact the physical fitness test results for ROTC students.
