The role of environmental diplomacy in both international politics and international trade has become increasingly important. Particularly, the World Trade Organization (WTO), which was originally of little relevance to environmental protection, has in recent years included environmental protection agreements into regulations regarding the activities of the organization. Taking the PRC's WTO accession as an example, this paper explains Beijing's attempt to cope with the changes in international politics and international trade, discusses the government's basic position, and examines the feasibility and problems of the measures Beijing has taken.
