In this study, a case study was conducted on the broadcasting and listening of life and song program on Paide Radio in Taichung Prison. Semi-structured in-depth qualitative interviews were conducted with inmates, counsels and social workers to study whether or not the program production and broadcasting has achieved its desired reformatory impact on the recorded inmates, inmates listening to programs and the general public. Suggestions were put forward for the production and broadcasting of radio programs in the high walls of prisons in order to provide a reference for the future production and broadcasting of similar radio programs by correctional agencies. The conclusion of the study showed that radio programs in prisons did have a positive impact on the inmates; Recording radio programs could promote the emotional connection between inmates and their families, which in turn enhances the degree of family support; The inmates recorded the program with a sense of honor and with the mindset of hoping that they did something good, which ultimately allowed for the enhancement of their harmonious relationship with the group; The radio programs in the prison achieved the soothing of the inmates’ emotions and reduced the discomfort of imprisonment. Finally, based on the research conclusions, the author put forward some policy suggestions on radio programs in prisons, including: incorporating radio programs into the reformatory measures of correctional facilities, making radio programs a bridge between the inmates and their families, improving the recording and broadcasting equipment of prisons, and establishing a cloud-based audio-visual platform exclusively for corrective facilities in the future.
