Starting from an existing V circuit breaker device, the paper presents a new kinematic structure of the V circuit breaker mechanism for medium and high voltage. The proposed schemes consist of triadic chains that ensure transmission angles near to the optimum values. The geometric and kinematic analyses of the proposed mechanism, with driven components that have to move with high speeds on disengaging process in the extinguishing chambers, have been achieved. The advantage of the new structure is that it offers a better isolation for the device housing against high voltage.
