This study attempts to understand how Taiwanese b-boys develop and practice body technique and knowledge in the setting of street dance studios. Focusing on dancers' body, this study explores the body technique of breaking through observing and experiencing the difficult skill and the intense body training required for dancers as well as participating in the competitions which breaking dancers performed in. The body technique contains the control of internal and external violence and the unique way of converting and venting violence to the form of dance battle. Moreover, through competitions and the interaction between dancers, DJ, emcee and audience, such body technique also embodies the body culture of popular games and festivities which is different from modern sports and gymnastics. Through practicing in street dance studios and participating in competitions, Taiwanese b-boys experience the global "street culture" by dance battle.
