城市是人類活動與文化形成之地,擁有人類集體的記憶,也是歷史產生的場所。在一連串的歷史記憶中,有某些以特別的形式保存了下來被稱為紀念物。紀念物是人們為了「紀念」而產生的,可以說是「紀念性」的呈現。紀念性是人與生俱來的情感,人們為了將對某些特定記憶的情感留存至後世,因此透過不同的形式在城市中留下紀念。紀念的形式不見得是有形的方式呈現,也可能是透過無形的節慶或是祭祀方式來呈現;而有形的紀念物,例如常見的石碑、雕像、建築物等,其所在的空間又間接影響著其在城市中所扮演的角色:圓環中心的城門、廣場中央的雕像、重要路口的歷史建物等。紀念性不完全等於歷史性,紀念性的價值與意涵亦隨著時代而改變,當新的紀念性產生時,將與傳統紀念形式產生什麼樣的衝突?這些紀念物所承載的紀念性,該如何傳遞下去?其所承載的紀念性價值為何?本研究即欲透過紀念物的演變,及其意涵的探討,了解新紀念性與傳統紀念物產生的問題為何,隨之而來的問題又有什麼樣的方式去解決?在歐美國家反思紀念性的同時,台灣亦隨著民主思潮的開放,設立了許多當代紀念物,這些紀念物是否能符合時代價值,忠實客觀的傳達紀念性,而不至於成為政治操弄的工具,是本研究最後欲釐清並達成的目的。
The city is the place that formation of human activity and culture, it not only with the collective memory of mankind, but also the place produced in a series of historical memory. Some preserved by special form called monument. Monuments is the product for expressing "monumentality" , which can be said to be the presentation of "monumentality" . Monuments is the natural emotions of people, who will have to retain certain emotional memories to future generations, through a variety way of memorial in the city.The memorial form is not necessarily a tangible , but also could be through the invisible way, such as festivals or sacrificial to present. Tangible monuments, such as the stone, statues, buildings, etc., the place they stood also indirectly affect in the role of the city: the gates of the center ring, the central square of the statue, major intersections and other historic buildings. Monumentality is not exactly as history, its value and meaning also changed by times, when the new monumentality occurs, what kind of conflict will occursed between traditional forms and new monumentality?How to let these monumentality transfer to the future? What is the value of its monumental? The purpose of this study is to find out the problem between new monumentality and traditional monuments through the evolution of the monuments and its meanings. By these problem, to find out the way to solve it. As the United States and Europe, reflective memorial, Taiwan also established many contemporary monuments through the open democratic ethos. Are these monuments able to meet the value of the times, faithfully convey the monumental objective and not become a tool of political manipulation? the last of this study is to clarify and reach for the purpose of desire.
