The purpose of this study is to investigate the counseling psychology interns’ self-care, subjective well-being and career commitment, through the analysis of their differences across various demographic variables, and to predict career commitment by self-care and subjective well-being. The design of this study is cross-sectional, and a survey by using questionnaire was conducted. Participants of this study were master’s level counseling psychology students doing their internship in 2009/2010 in Taiwan. Total 188 questionnaires were sent out, and 168 were recovered. Among them, 157 valid questionnaires were further analyzed using T-test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson product-moment correlation, and multiple linear regression analysis methods. The result of this study demonstrated that the counseling psychology interns’ career commitment and self-care are both above average, and the counseling psychology interns’ subjective well-being is lower than graduate students in Taiwan. These counseling psychology interns who have different internship allowance are different in self-care.The difference in interns’ age and internship institution shows significant difference in their subjective well-being. The difference in interns’ sex, age, college major and thesis progress shows significant difference in their career commitment. There are positive correlations between career commitment and self-care, self-care and subjective well-being, and career commitment and subjective well-being. In addition, self-care and subjective well-being can predict the career commitment of the interns. Finally, suggestions are made for counseling psychology interns, supervisors and for future research.
