On the Character ＂畝＂ (Mu)

摘要

「畝」字，《說文．田部》：「□，畮，或从十久。」大徐本云：「十，四方也。久聲。」段玉裁進一步闡釋：「十者阡陌之制。每、久古音皆在一部。」其後，各家皆據大徐本、段注本之說來理解「畝」字的結構。然而檢視秦隸中的「畝」字，作□_(青川牘正一)、□_(睡虎地5.9.4)，知字形既不從「十」，也不從「久」。那麼，「畝」字的結構究竟如何形成的？本文針對秦漢隸書中的「畝」字形體，結合前人研究的成果，論證「畝」字形來源於小篆「畮」字，整理勾勒出「畝」字從秦隸至漢隸的演變序列，並嘗試對漢隸畝字的「□」寫法提出解釋。

The purpose of this article is to study and examine the forms of the Chinese character ＂畝＂(Mu). From the wisdom of earlier studies and by examining the forms of 畝in the clerical scripts (Lishu) of the two dynasties, Ching and Han, it can be argued that the form of 畝is a transformation from the character ＂畮＂(Mu). This article also gives an outline of the development process of the character ＂畝＂ (Mu) in Lishu from Ching to Han, and tries to define the function of the radical ＂□＂ of the form ＂□＂ in Lishu of Han Dynasty.
