The purpose of this study was to trace the development of Physical Education Journal and Sport and Exercise Research in terms of published articles from 2009 through 2015. The analysis of the data provides the taxonomy of subject areas for the articles, summary information on authorship including the impact of collaboration, and an assessment of the institutional affiliation of the contributing authors, and popular topics in two journals. The research method used in this study was content analysis by using the content analysis list designed from the researchers. Each issue of the journal was reviewed independently by two data coders who wrote down the descriptive information and then compared their records prior to entering the information in the database. This study finds that the two journals accepted more natural science articles than social science articles. Physical Education Journal published maximum articles in sport psychology and Sport and Exercise Research published maximum articles in exercise physiology. In terms of the numbers of authors, multiple-authored articles accounting for the majority than single-authored articles. Physical Education Journal most in two authorships, Sport and Exercise Research most in three authorships. The published articles of author source are different in the two journals. For the Physical Education Journal, National Taiwan Normal University accounted for the articles most, however, National Taiwan Sport University more in Sport and Exercise Research. Except for statistics analysis methods, physical activity, aging, sport training, electromyography, sports performance, and motor learning have been the most popular topics in two journals. According to the findings above, some advice were suggested for publishing units and future studies.
