The purpose of this study was to analyze the international trends and strategies of artistic gymnastics' individual event finals with reference t o the rules for international events published by Fédération In ternationale de Gymnastique (FIG) for 2017–2020. The objects of this study were the top eight artistic gymnasts who participated in the FIG World Cup 2018 in Doha and FIG World Challenge Cup in Croatia, plus the top six Taiwanese artistic gymnasts who took part in the trials of the 2018 Asian Games. The results and relevant documentation are all published by the FIG. This study discussed the descriptive statistics and correlation analysis of the difficulty score (D score), the execution score (E score), and final score. Analysis results indicated that in the apparatus finals for men's pommel horse, men's rings, and men's vault, the E scores of the Asian Games team trials exceeded the results in the FIG World Challenge Cup. It seems the Taiwanese artistic gymnasts have considerable potential for winning a prize. In men's floor, more effort should be devoted to improving the competitiveness of the D scores. In the women's floor, the results for Taiwanese artistic gymnasts are not much different than those of their competitors, making them a dark horse candidate for success. The difficulty and resulting D scores of women's balance beam, vaulting and uneven bars routines can be further enhanced. This study concludes that the keys to success include stabilizing the E scores, reducing point deduct ions, and improving the D scores in competition.
