Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica D. Don) is one of the important planted tree species grown in Taiwan. Because of the diversity of Japanese cedar species, thus the kinds of its extractives were diversified. This paper review the extractives isolated and identified from Japanese cedar. The total of compounds has two hundred forty eight, including ten lignans, eleven norlignans, fifteen flavonoids, twenty -two monoterpenoids, eighty-seven sesquiterpenoids, eighty-nine diterpenoids, thirteen triterpenoids and one steroid.
