Investigation on the Materials used for Timber Construction of Historical Buildings in Taiwan (Ⅱ)The Retention of the Mechanical Properties of Wood

The purpose of this study was focused on the evaluation of the mechanical properties for the members that have been removed by the reparation administration. The results of this study showed that most mechanical properties of the testing specimens are no less than fifty percent of the standard value (literature cited value). Therefore, it is concluded that the deterioration of wood members in construction was not due to aging, but wood destroyers.
