本文透過文獻分析的方法,針對圖書館於終生學習體系中的角色提出探討,以期圖書館發揮其應有的功能及扮演好其角色,建構更完善的終生學習體系,加速進行我國走向學習社會的教育改革,達成全民教育及終生學習的理想。本文闡述終生教育與終生學習體系的要義,強調人人學習、時時學習、事事學習、處處學習的學習社會特徵。提出終生學習社會的基礎有賴圖書館發揮其功能及扮演好角色。在功能上,圖書館是終生學習體系中唯一對所有人開放、整合所有學科、永遠不畢業以培養自我終生學習能力與習慣的教育設施。在角色上,舉例說明圖書館提供民眾終生的服務。最後,希望邁向終生學習社會的教育改革,能加強圖書館增進社區學習文化的功能。
To demonstrate the critical roles libraries can and do play in the system of lifelong learning, an extensive literature review and analysis was undertaken. Thus, the system does play the role in support of the educational reform initiatives for the learning society and education for all. Since libraries are the only educational system available to everyone, regardless of age or affiliation, it is logical to turn to the libraries to help to achieve the goal of learning society. Furthermore, libraries play a unique role in bridging the gaps between disciplines, and in helping people continue to self-study. In these ways, libraries provide community members with learning culture.
