Human Cataractous Lens Epithelial Cells in Tissue Culture
人類白內障水晶體上皮細胞之組織培養
摘要
人類白內障水晶體上皮細胞在經過組織培養後8天，研究其細胞外觀及大小。我們總共檢查了30個不同程度白內障水晶體的上皮細胞。結果顯示：輕微程度白內障水晶體上皮細胞在培養時多為較小而形狀均勻的細胞，其細胞核明顯而較大。當白內障較嚴重時，其細胞形狀漸呈不均勻，細胞質內出現空泡，細胞核漸不明顯而細胞大小增加。本研究顯示隨著白內障嚴重度的增加，培養中的水晶體上皮細胞的外觀和大小有顯著的變化。

The morphology and size of the epithelial cells of human cataractous lens were studied after 8 days of tissue culture. Totally 30 senile cataractous lenses of different degree of cataract were examined. The cell culture taken from a lens of mild cataractous degree was characterized by a majority of smaller epitheloid cells showing a homogeneous cell picture and a distinct and relatively large nucleus. With increasing degree of cataract, the cells became increasingly inhomogeneous in morphology and showed signs of vacuolic degeneration and a less distinct nucleus as well as increased cell size. A correlation between morphological epithelial changes and degree of cataract was observed.
