New technologies and new product are being designed every day. In order to face fierce competitions, companies rely more on product innovative designs to increase its niche in the market. The acquisition and exercise of patents is an important trend currently. Industrial R&D depends on the protection and utilization of intellectual properties to enhance its competitiveness. Therefore, this research is based on patent information, constructing an innovative product design model systematically. A hair dryer product design example is used to illustrate the model process. The research results show that the product is designed to meet the patent application target through the patent search and analysis and the deployment and transformation of innovation method and even avoid counterfeiting or infringing on other's patents. When doing so, the chance for success in the new product development can be increased and the market risk for it can be lower.
