The main purposes of this study were to develop a theory-based measure of successful aging, and explore potential association between leisure activity participation and successful aging. A sample of 512 older adult from Kaohsiung City completed self-report measures of leisure activity participation and successful aging. The obtained data was analyzed by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM). Statistical analysis yielded the following results. First, second-order four factor model of successful aging performed adequate goodness of fit. Second, cross-validation of successful aging second-order measurement model is confirmed. Third, there was significantly correlation between leisure activity participation and successful aging. Based on these results, implication for promotion of elderly leisure activities participation and successful aging was discussed. And suggestions for future study were provided in this study.
