中國飲食文化之旅是簡述中國有史以來食文化的起源以及各朝代食文化的變化,中國食文化隨著中國人移民海外傳到東南亞和世界各國,主講者著重東南亞,尤其是新加坡和馬來西亞華人的食文化,由於早期華人與馬來土著婦女通姆,產生了不懂華語及華文的後代,男性被稱為「峇峇」女性「娘惹」,華人食文化起了變化,就是華巫兩民族混合的食文化叫「娘惹料理」,主講者也談到峇峇和娘惹食文化的風俗和習慣。
The paper traces briefly the history of the development of Chinese dietary culture from ancient times to the present, fowssing on how it spread to South-East Asia through Chinese immigrants who brought their eating habits with them. Emphasis is on the transformation of Chinese cooking into "Baba" or "Nyonya" cooking with the inter-marriage of Chinese men to Malay women. "Nyonya" cooking is a mixture of Chinese and Malay cooking and popularly known as "Nyonya" food. The pa per also discusses the mutual influence of various dietary cultures through the interaction of English, Chinese, Malay and Indian peoples living in Malaya and Singapore. It also touches on the Chinese table manner s introduced by Chinese immigrants.
